Portsmouth is an irresistible mix of history and heritage, specialist shopping, great restaurants and bars and home of the Royal Navy. The historic dockyard is a great place to experience 800 years of Royal Naval History. You can also experience the quiet life in old Portsmouth as you stroll along the cobbled streets offering unique shopping opportunities, traditional pubs and tucked away tearooms. Not forgetting, of course, the modern emblem of Portsmouth – the Emirates Spinnaker Tower. This imposing structure stretches 170 metres above Gunwharf Quays – making it taller than Big Ben. As well you can visit the Christmas market with wooden cabins selling festive food, decorations and gifts to get you in the Christmas spirit!
We will also visit Winchester – the ancient capital of England, full of Mediaeval character, and buildings including the famous cathedral – the burial place of Jane Austen. The Winchester Cathedral Christmas Markets is set in a unique location next to the cathedral and takes inspiration from the traditional German Christmas markets with traders from all over the UK selling gifts, decorations and festive food.
