We start with a local departure for our journey north to Oban and the Columba Hotel for 4 nights half board accommodation. This Victorian hotel is centrally located in Oban with many rooms having sea views and others look out to the town (room type/view cannot be guaranteed). All rooms are well appointed and features include a restaurant and 2 bars.
During your stay we have included these great excursions:
- Isle of Mull & Iona: Board the ferry from Oban for a visit taking in the scenic beauty of Mull. The island excursion takes you south passing imposing Duart Castle to Fionnphort. Hop on the short ferry crossing as foot passengers to the sacred Isle of Iona. Wander round the island at leisure with its white sandy beach and pathways. Iona is an island of pilgrimage and recognised as the birthplace of Christianity in the UK. Entry is included into the famous Abbey, the resting place of over 100 Scottish Kings.
- Fort William and Lochaber – Hugging the shoreline of the Loch more or less all the way, you arrive in Fort William for sightseeing. The afternoon is spent seeing the best of Lochaber. Nearby, is Neptunes Staircase, where you can see boats of all shapes and sizes navigating the 8 locks of the Caledonian Canal. Continue to Gairlochy, along the side of this well-known canal, with photo opportunities to take in the terrific views of Ben Nevis and the Great Glen at the famed Commando Monument, Spean bridge.
- Free time in Oban to enjoy everything the town has to offer in your own time from quirky boutique stores and homely tea rooms.
