Our special trip starts with a local departure for our journey by coach to Germany and the breathtaking Rhine Valley. We stay at the Hotel Wagner. This is an old Harry Shaw favourite. It is owned and run by Dieter and Andreas Wagner. It is set in the pleasant village of Kamp Bornhofen, set alongside the mighty Rhine itself, overlooked by 2 castles known as the ‘feuding brothers’. There is a bar and restaurant and all rooms have private facilities. The cuisine here enjoys a fine reputation. The hotel has a lift from the street level to the patio and a second lift inside allows access to bedrooms. However please note that this tour is not entirely suitable for the disabled as a number of stairs are always involved to gain access to the dining room. On the first day, arrival at the hotel may be in the late evening, but soup and sandwiches will be provided.
During your stay we have INCLUDED these great excursions in the tour price:
- A tour of the Rhine Valley area taking in the Lorelei Rock, Rhine Gorge and Rudesheim – one of the most celebrated of the Rhineland’s wine towns. During the day we have included a river cruise
- A visit to the cathedral city of Cologne with time for shopping and sightseeing
- A day exploring the Moselle Valley, with visits to the historic wine towns of Cochem and Bernkastel, where you will find a unique and enchanting market square, surrounded by charming half-timbered houses.
