Your Itinerary:

Day 1 - We start with a local departure for our journey north through the Borders to arrive at our hotel – The Highlander, Newtonmore or the Balavil Hotel, Newtonmore. All rooms have private facilities and features include a bar and restaurant.

Day 2 – Aviemore Steam and Spey Valley - after a leisurely breakfast we take a short drive to Aviemore before boarding the steam train for the 45 minute journey through spectacular Speyside mountainous scenery.  Time free in Grantown on Spey followed by a visit to the Speyside Centre at Dulnain Bridge

Day 3 – The Kyle Line and Skye – after breakfast we head for Inverness to catch the train for ‘one of the most beautiful rail journeys in Europe’ – Michael Palin.  In Kyle our coach collects you for the short journey to the Isle of Skye, with time for sightseeing.  Return to our hotel by coach through glorious Highland grandeur

Day 4 – Jacobite Steam Train journey.  One of the holiday highlights - the day includes:

  • A 2 hour journey by train either from Fort William to Mallaig or Mallaig to Fort William.  This has been made world famous in the 'Harry Potter' movies, absorbing beautiful views of lochs, mountains, Glenfinnan Viaduct, Loch Morar and the small Isles of Eigg, Much and Rum.
  • A road journey either from Fort William to Mallaig or Mallaig to Fort William.  During this we stop off in Glenfinnan to see Bonnie Prince Charlie's Monument, the 21 arched viaduct on the Western Line.  Finally we make our way to Banavie and the historic Neptunes staircase - a series of locks on the Caladonian Canal.  It is the longest staircase lock in the UK.

Day 5 - We commence our journey home arriving back later on.

Please Note: Train journeys may be done in reverse order to accommodate timetable in which case no compensation will be payable. Steam trains may be replaced by diesels. Excursion days may be alternated. Again no compensation will be payable in these circumstances.
