Here is a great holiday combining the vast countryside of the Black Forest with a colourful spectacle of Chrysanthema Festival.
In October 10,000 chrysanthemums turn the historic centre of Lahr into a lush and colourful splendour. Every year the theme changes and the festival promises colourful gardening arrangements and creative flower displays that invite you into the streets and squares.
We start with a departure by coach for our journey via the cross Channel ferry to our first overnight stopover in France. Continue to the Black Forest area. Dinner is included tonight.
Accommodation is reserved at the family-run 3* Hotel Bären, which is situated in lovely Oberharmersbach in the middle of the Black Forest. All guest rooms feature TVs with satellite channels and hair dryers. Buffet breakfast is served daily and regional specialities are served in the restaurant.
On day 3 we take you to Lahr. Explore the historic city centre on our unforgettable walk past thousands of chrysanthemums arranged to display their glorious autumn colours. There are fascinating flower beds, artistic flower wagons and sumptuous flower decorations with a rich glow. To round things off there is a varied and cultural and music programme with renowned groups and unique performances taking place on the market square every day.
On day 4 we take you on a scenic drive through the Black Forest. You will have the change to see the waterfalls of Triberg, the biggest cuckoo clock in the world and visit one of the famous glass blowers in the area. (Entrances included).
On day 5 we explore the university city of Freiburg with a guided tour. Stroll through the mediaeval streets and don’t miss the impressive cathedral. In the afternoon we have included a Black Forest Gateau seminar where you can learn everything about the famous cake. Of course a tasting will be part of it!
On day 6 we start our journey home to our first overnight stopover. On day 7 we continue home arriving back later on.
