Ride Behind the 'Flying Scotsman' on the East Lancashire Railway

The world's most famous steam locomotive - 'Flying Scotsman' is returning to the East Lancashire Railway. It was originally built in Doncaster and completed on 24 February 1923.  It had its first taste of fame when it appeared at the British Empire Exhibition in London in 1924.  It has undergone a £4.2 million overhaul and been brought back to life to portray the glamour of the 'Golden Age of Steam'.  You can ride behind the train on the 13.55 hour return journey from Bury to Heywood.  There is also unlimited travel on other standard services throughout the day included in your ticket.

Your Itinerary:

We start with a local departure on day 1 and make our way to the vibrant city of Liverpool.  Renowned as 'the Beatles city', don't miss the Albert Dock and new buildings.

Later on we take you to our hotel where rooms have been booked on a dinner, bed and breakfast for the night.

On day 2 we take you to Bury and you have the chance to ride behing the 'Flying Scotsman'.

Important Note: If any aspect of the train journey is not provided or carried out in a different form from that shown, no compensation will apply.  If the train journey is cancelled after departure the trip will still proceed and the train fare only will be refunded.
