Enjoy a 2 centre holiday taking in the Costa Brava – characterised by its rugged cliffs indented with picturesque sandy bays and the principality of Andorra.
We start with a local departure by ‘First Class’ coach for our journey via the cross Channel ferry or Eurotunnel to our overnight stopover in the Paris area.
Day 2 - we head south to Spain and the popular resort of Tossa de Mar where accommodation has been reserved for 3 nights. Tossa is a little more exclusive than other resorts in the area. Originally a Mediaeval fishing village it has developed into a unique blend of old and new. There is a fortified old town with a preserved wall and watchtower. You can lose yourself discovering the romantic labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets and alleyways.
Day 3 – today you can join our optional visit to the famous cliffside monastery at Montserrat – the home of the famous ‘Black Madonna’. This was believed to have been founded in the 9th century. Price: £19.95 per person
Day 4 – today we have included a visit to Barcelona with its wealth of beautiful buildings, parks, cathedral and the legendary Ramblas.
Day 5 – we spend a leisurely morning in the resort of Tossa before we head north to Andorra, making a stop en route in the pretty riverside town of Puigcerda. In Andorra we stay for 3 nights on a half board basis at the 5* Ski Plaza Hotel. This is situated on the Rock del Quer Mountain in the heart of Canillo. It features a restaurant, café bar and leisure centre with indoor pool and sauna
Day 6 – we visit the principality of Andorra. The country set high in the Pyrenees is prosperous due to tourism and its state as a tax haven. In Andorra la Vella you will find bargains and all kinds of goods. In the old town you may wish to visit the Casa de la Val, (House of the Valley), a 16th century building which has been used as Andorra’s Parliament since 1702.
Day 7 – join our optional excursion to France and Carcassonne – the Mediaeval walled town. There are 2 distinct parts – the more modern Bastide St Louis – which contains the cathedral St Michel and the walled cite Mediaeval with its cobbled lanes and Mediaeval walls offering spectacular views. Price: £19.95 per person.
Day 8 – head north to our overnight stay in the Paris area.
Day 9 – return home to the UK.
