The world’s most famous steam locomotive ‘Flying Scotsman’ is making an appearance at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway in April. It will be on display at Ingrow and you can come along and enjoy the ‘Flying Scotsman’ experience. All items as above are included. We also feature an overnight stay in a carefully selected hotel and a visit to enjoy the historic attractions of York.
We start with a local departure on day 1 and make our way to historic York. There will be time to view the Roman, romantic and Mediaeval heritage with lots of attractions for visitors to enjoy. Don’t miss the city walls, the Minster, the Jorvik Centre or, of course, the National Railway Museum. No admission charges are included.
Later on we take you to our hotel where rooms have been booked on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis for the night.
On day 2 you have a chance to get close to the fastest steam train of all time – the ‘Flying Scotsman’. We make our way to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway and Oxenhope Station. Here we board a train to Ingrow West Station, where the Flying Scotsman will be on dispaly and in steam in Ingrow Station Yard. Timed access is included for the 'Flying Scotsman Experience' which allows you to climb on-board the cab and even walk down the corridor tender, just as generations of enginemen did in days gone by. A 15 minute interpretive talk about the cab is also included. The whole Experience will last up to 40 minutes, after which the remainder of the afternoon you can enjoy travelling from Ingrow Station and along the Worth Valley branch with your included 'Railway Rover Ticket'.
Tickets include limited travel on the steam trains between Oxenhope and Keighley. Ingrow station and Ingrow yard area will only be accessible by taking a train and alighting at Ingrow West.
Important Note: The ‘Flying Scotsman Experience' is not suitable for people with reduced mobility or wheelchair users due to steep steps from ground level to the footplate.
Our coach will depart for the return journey home during the afternoon.
