Your Itinerary:

Day 1
We start with a local departure by 'First Class' coach for our journey via the Eurotunnel or cross Channel ferry to our overnight stopover in France / Germany.

Day 2
Continue to our hotel in Berlin.

Day 3
Today we have included a visit to central Berlin. Our guided tour will introduce you to the main sights of this very cosmopolitan city. See the remains of the Berlin Wall, the Reichstag building, ‘Checkpoint Charlie’ and the iconic Brandenburg Gate. Later spend time strolling along the famous Unter den Linden Boulevard with its excellent shops.

Day 4
Join our full days included excursion to Potsdam – the capital of Brandenburg. Later we visit Sanssouci Palace and gardens, (extra cost), the former summer residence and favourite of Frederick the Great.

Day 5
Today we leave Berlin and head south to Colditz Castle.  This is set on a rocky outcrop above the River Mulde.  The fortress is most famous for becoming a prisoner of war camp during World War II for allied officers who had repeatedly escaped from other camps.  On our guided tour we learn of its history and see some of the escape tunnels built by the prisoners.  Afterwards continue to our hotel in Dresden.

Day 6 - Dresden
This famous city is built on the banks of the River Elbe. It was heavily bombed during World War II. Many of the historic buildings were re-built, including the Zwinger Palace, the Semper Opera House and, more recently, the beautiful domed Frauenkirche, (Church of Our Lady), bringing the city landscape back to its former glory. We have included a guided tour followed by some free time in the city.

Day 7 - Commence our return journey home to our overnight stopover in France/Germany.

Day 8 - Continue back, arriving home later on.
