We start with a local departure for our journey via the cross Channel ferry or Eurotunnel to France. We make our way to our hotel. Accommodation has been reserved in the Northern France area. Typical of the hotel we use is the Novotel Airport Hotel at Lille. Rooms all have private facilities and there is a bar etc.
During your stay we have included these excursions:
- With an expert guide we visit Passchendale and the Essex Farm Cemetery. We then make our way to Ypres. Here you can see the 'In Flanders' Museum, (admission charges not included). We spend the rest of the day in this charming Belgium town. It may be an idea to catch a bite to eat. In the evening we visit the Menin Gate, placed there in honour of those who perished with no known graves. Each evening the 'Last Post' is sounded. After this we make our way back to the hotel.
- The Somme area. With an expert guide we visit Vimy Ridge and the Canadian Memorial Park. We continue to the Arras Memorial and the Beaumont Hamel Memorial Park, Through the fields of the Somme to Peronne and the First World War Museum.
On day 4 we make our way home arriving back later on.
