We start with a local departure for our journey north to our selected hotel for an overnight stay.
On day 2, after breakfast, we head into the Highlands. Continue into the Spey Valley, passing the imposing Blair Atholl Castle. Afterwards there is free time in Inverness – the Highland capital. We continue onwards to the north east coast past Brora with its sandy beach and fairytale Dunrobin Castle, arriving at our hotel – the Royal at Thurso – where we have a 4 night dinner, bed and breakfast stay arranged.
Day 3 – Morning at leisure before our excursion along the coast to the Castle of May. We also take in John O’Groats – in the most northerly corner of Scotland.
Day 4 – Orkney Islands tour. A local coach will pick you up and take you over to the Orkney Islands. Here we have included a guided tour including visits to most of the main sites on the Islands including Skara Brae, the Churchill Barriers, Scapa Flow, the ‘Standing Stones of Stenness’, the Italian Chapel and Kirkwall with a chance to see the magnificent 12th century cathedral. Return to the hotel in time for dinner.
Day 5 – Today we have a scenic excursion along the Caithness coast to visit Kyle of Tongue and Durness.
Day 6 – Today we depart from Thurso and travel south taking in the ever changing scenery. We stop off at Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness for photo opportunities, then onwards along the Great Glen to Fort William, with free time before continuing south through mountainous Glencoe. Head for our final overnight stopover.
Day 7 – Continue home arriving back later on.
