We stay at the Hotel Wagner. The Wagner is an old Harry Shaw favourite. It is owned and run by Dieter and Andreas Wagner. It is set in the pleasant village of Kamp Bornhofen set alongside the mighty Rhine itself overlooked by 2 castles known locally as the ‘feuding brothers’. There is a bar and restaurant and all rooms have private facilities. The cuisine here enjoys a fine reputation. The hotel has a lift from street level up to the patio and a second lift inside allows access to bedrooms. However please note that it is not entirely suitable for the disabled as a number of stairs are always involved to gain access to the dining room.
Included excursions:
- Cologne – the magnificent city of Cologne hosts 6 Christmas markets in total. Amongst them are 4 big Christmas markets – at the Cologne Cathedral on the Alter Markt, on the Neumarkt and on the Rudolfplatz. The market at the Cologne Cathedral is the most impressive due to its impressive backdrop.
- Rudesheim– a traditional market held in the Rhineside resort of Rudesheim. Enjoy the lively celebrations and perhaps visit the Drosselgasse – a street almost completely filled with friendly restaurants and wine taverns.
- Bonn - the Christmas market bathes the city in a magical atmosphere against the backdrop of the illuminated facade of the 900 year old basilica.
